Using the River Calder and its tributaries, the Rochdale Canal, and
the word water as a starting point for inspiration, HEADS worked with
251 participants aged from 6 - 96 to present Drawing on Water 2005.
Young dancers and musicians and a storyteller performed to a packed
house at Square Chapel, Halifax to help create a wonderful finale to
what was an ambitious and successful project.
Dancers from Mount Pellon
and Ash Green Schools and Musicians from Todmorden High, Cornholme and
Ferney Lee Schools came together to explore Indian and watery themes,
in front of stunning backdrops created by children from The Watch Club,
Todmorden.
An exhibition of project work was displayed at Square Chapel
and other local venues. Exhibition work included a huge collage by
students from Todmorden Community College that explored flooding in
Todmorden, poems and photos by Riverside school about water and
photomontages created from 'Tin Baths and Outside Lavs' reminiscence
sessions at Ferney Lee Home and Mytholm Meadows.
Adults from Royd
Square Day Centre created a solar powered Water Sculpture in their
community garden.
